If you want a different view of the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, you need to book a ride on the Kuranda Skyrail. A stone’s throw to the north of Cairns, an incredible journey by cable car awaits you accessible with our Cairns and Port Douglas shuttle to Kuranda. This mighty cable car passes over the rainforest giving tourists a unique view of this primeval forest. The cable car ride takes 90 minutes one way, and quite incredibly travels from Kuranda to Smithfield in Cairns. You will get to see the untouched canopy from above, before the cable car gently drops down to allow you to get a close-up view of this ancient rainforest.

You can choose to book a return trip on the Skyrail (3 hours total travel time) or take a one-way Skyrail from Smithfield or Kuranda, and a one-way Scenic railway journey between Kuranda and Smithfield at Cairns. This incredible feat of engineering opened in 1891 and will transport you in vintage refurbished carriages, so that you can see how people travelled in style over a hundred years ago. The trip takes 20 minutes from Cairns, 45 minutes from Port Douglas and the easiest way to get to experience this is using Beep Beep Toot's Cairns and Port Douglas to Kuranda Skyrail shuttle service.

From here, you can take the scenic cable car ride up to Kuranda, and then take the scenic train down from Kuranda to Smithfield – it’s around a 30-minute walk back to the Skypark and pick-up point for Beep Beep Toot’s Cairns City to Skyrail service back to Cairns.

Of course, you can always do it the other way around and take the train up and the Skyrail back or just take the Skyrail both ways. Please check the timings of the train before making your booking, as it does not always depart from Smithfield in the morning. If you want to combine your experience on the Skyrail with some time in Cairns there’s plenty to see. Cairns of course has a lot to offer including Great Barrier Reef diving and snorkelling, scenic flights by helicopter, day trips to Fitzroy Island, sailing and more… The city itself offers a multitude of lovely ways to spend a day. Don’t miss the Esplanade Boardwalk and Lagoon, an artificial saltwater lake that is perfect (and safe) for cooling off in the Cairns's heat. There are also the Botanic Gardens with its collection of rare plants, Rusty’s Market to grab some tucker, and when the sun goes down the night markets come alive for a spot of shopping. All in all, it’s a great place to enjoy your holiday.
